Nutrient Stewardship and Sustainable Fertilizer Use in sub-Sahara Africa: An Interplay between the Public and Private sector

With the African Union developing an ambitious Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan, the 4R Solution project www.4Rsolution.org is pleased to publish a new study by university economists from Ghana and Canada. Lesley Hope, University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana, and Sabine Liebenehm, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada explore the challenges and of engaging the private sector to scale up the 4R Nutrient Stewardship system for sustainable fertilizer use. The study discusses the importance of the private sector in transferring science-based crop production knowledge and advice to African farmers.
